The Foresight Infrastructure team will be doing a collective fundraiser in support of Walking4Hope on Thu 7 Sep. Through running, jogging, walking or crawling, everyone is encouraged to seek sponsorship and challenge themselves to take on the biggest distance they can and connect with the very notion of what Walking4Hope hopes to achieve with those it serves.

Walking4Hope was founded by John Bell after his son Jake, took his own life in 2020 aged just 15. John spent the first year following Jake’s passing, pushing himself through physical challenges to counter balance his mental struggles. This led to finding solace in the great outdoors and building resilience through nature. John has chosen to dedicate his life to sharing his love for Jake and using the strength from that love to help others.

Walking4Hope is now a network of peer support groups, run by people who have experienced their own mental health issues, meeting regularly to walk, connect and share without fear or judgement. We know, from personal experience, that poor mental health is magnified through isolation. So whether it is talking to someone or simply walking beside them, we believe that connecting with others is the first step to recovery. The charity provides a range of services including recreational / leisure time activities (including group walks), support for bereaved parents, practical advice, support and signposting for intervention and crisis services as well as mental health and well-being workshops.

Walking4Hope believe everyone suffering with poor mental health should be able to access local care and services whilst being treated fairly, positively, with respect and without judgement.

All money raised will help the charity to support and empower more individuals and families experiencing mental health problems to make informed choices about how they live and recover.
