About Operation Healthy Hearts
Hello, my name is Jacqueline Herrera , and I’m the founder of Operation Healthy Hearts (OHH). Inspired by my own experiences of homelessness as a young mother, I created OHH to provide immediate, meaningful support to food-insecure Angelenos and those experiencing homelessness. Since 2012, our mission has been to make food assistance not only more accessible but also healthier, aiming to empower individuals with the resources and tools they need to thrive.
At our core, OHH is about more than just food. Our pop-up food banks don’t only provide nutrient-dense meal boxes but also bring together a wide network of community services, including public health units, mobile showers, social services, and legal support. Every Thursday, we set up at Whittier Narrows in South El Monte, where, alongside community partners like The Shower of Hope and LA’s Public Defender’s Office, we serve between 80-200 people experiencing homelessness.
Through partnerships and tireless advocacy, we’re now working on expanding our reach with safe tenting and parking models to provide consistent access to resources in a secure environment. Our goal is to offer shelter, safety, and connection through resource fairs that strengthen community bonds and empower people to navigate toward stability and self-sufficiency.
But we can’t do it alone. With your support, we aim to sustain and grow our programs, making it possible for those we serve to get the real help they need when they need it most. Every donation helps us provide food, hygiene products, and critical resources, ultimately building a brighter and healthier future for all.
Thank you for being a part of this journey with us. Together, we’re making a difference—one meal, one connection, one community at a time.
Support Operation Healthy Hearts Today.
I couldn't do it without your support.
Were better together
