Akwadum Christian Centre in Akwadum, Koforidua, Ghana is both an orphanage and a Christian school. It is home to 50 amazing children and a school to more than 100 children in the local area. The orphans have faced hardship early in life, yet shine with joy, potential, and faith. We are raising funds to bless them and to invest in their long-term growth and education.

Christ Evangelical Church Leytonstone Trust is a registered charity that provides donations and support to the Akwadum Christian Centre. Today we are extending our hands to you the global community in helping us to provide for the children.

The Orphanage Needs

The Ghanaian government has brought many more orphans to orphanages, making funds exhaustive and space little for the children to function.

We prayerfully seek funds for:

• Expansion — making room for more children in need including baby nurseries.

• Feeding and daily provisions — food, hygiene care, clothing, essentials and medical bills.

The School Needs

The school is thriving in educating the locals but more can be done to improve their education needs.

We ask for support in building the future of their education:

• A well furnished science laboratory — so they can explore, experiment, and learn practically. We want to raise leaders in STEM

• A library — to open windows of knowledge, curiosity and imagination

• New block of classrooms — as the school grows and more students enrol

Furthermore we want to increase the wages of the teachers and staff as well as enrol them into teacher training courses in order to give the children excellence in education.

We believe deeply in God’s heart for compassion. Jesus teaches us to have compassion towards these children in these verses:

““Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’”

We are not simply feeding children, we are building futures.

We are not only constructing rooms, we are raising leaders, scholars, and believers.
