I started this campaign the day I found 14-year-old Faith crying behind the school latrine, blood running down her legs because she had stuffed her underwear with pieces of an old exercise book. When I asked why she hadn’t told a teacher, she whispered, “last term I asked a bodaboda man for 200 shillings to buy pads. He gave me the money… but he wanted something in return. I can’t do that again.” Faith is one of the brightest girls in Form Two, always top three in her class, but that month she missed nine school days. I later learned she wasn’t alone. In my rural school in Kakamega County, more than half the girls were using rags, leaves, or nothing at all. Some were sneaking out at lunch to meet riders who waited by the gate with 100- or 200-shilling notes. Teachers pretended not to see; parents were too poor to help; the government pads reached the cities but never our village.

That evening I went home and emptied my own cupboard—every coin, every packet of pads I had. It wasn’t enough for even one term. I couldn’t sleep knowing that tomorrow, and next month, and the month after, another girl would face the same degrading choice. So I made a promise to Faith and to every girl hiding her stained uniform in shame: I will fight until managing a period is never again a reason to miss school or lose your childhood. That promise became this campaign. Because Faith deserves to sit for her KCSE, not to become another statistic.

Every shilling you donate goes straight to the girls: 85% buys high-quality, Kenyan-made reusable sanitary pad kits (8 pads, 2 panties, soap, and a waterproof bag) that last three years, while the remaining 15% funds full-day sexual and reproductive health rights training, emergency disposable pads for remote schools, fuel to deliver everything by motorbike, and follow-up visits to ensure the kits are used and the lessons stick. There are no offices, no staff salaries, and no overseas costs—100% reaches the girls in the form of pads in their hands, knowledge in their heads, and the chance to stay in school with their dignity intact. Quarterly reports, photos (with consent), distribution lists, and personal thank-you notes from the girls will show exactly how your gift changed lives.

Please help keep girls in school, safe, and empowered. Your support will give them dignity, education, and hope for a better future. Join us in making sure no girl has to miss school or risk her safety because of her period. Help me keep my promise to Faith, and to every girl who deserves a chance.
