On November 20, 2025, Gildardo “Gil” Gallego—a loved member of our family—was detained by immigration agents in Anchorage, Alaska, and transferred to the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma, Washington. He now faces deportation. I am creating this fundraiser on behalf of my cousin Frances, who has been left to care alone for their 4-year-old son, Benjamin, who requires continuous, specialized support for his Autisms level 3. Gil’s sudden absence has placed them under overwhelming emotional and financial crisis.

As the family confronts this devastating reality, we are asking for your support to help ease the burden on Frances and Benjamin. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will provide meaningful relief during this crisis. All funds will go directly toward legal representation to fight for Gil’s release (bail fee), immigration-related fees, lawyer fees and essential living expenses that are now impossible for Frances to meet on her own.

Who Is Gil?
Gildardo emigrated from Colombia to Alaska more than 11 years ago, seeking a safe and stable environment to build a better future. Over the years, he has become known for his integrity, humility, and dedication to his family. He is a hardworking, honest, a man full of faith in God and deeply respectful man. Someone who consistently shows kindness, offers help without hesitation, and contributes positively to everyone around him.

He is the kind of person any community is fortunate to have as a neighbor, friend, or family member.

Benjamin’s Story
Four years ago, Gil and his wife, Frances, welcomed their son, Benjamin, in Anchorage. Benjamin is a charming boy who became the center of their world. At two and a half years old, he was diagnosed with autism level 3, along with significant developmental delays and a severe language disorder.

Because of his diagnosis, Benjamin requires 24/7 care, structure, and consistent parental presence. Gil plays a crucial role in his daily routines, therapies, and emotional regulation.

Why Your Support Matters
Gil’s deportation would cause irreparable harm to his family. Benjamin receives specialized therapies that will be hard to get in Colombia and will delay even more his learning process. Frances would be left without the support she needs, and Benjamin would lose one of the most important figures in his life.

This is not simply a legal challenge. It is a fight to protect a vulnerable child and preserve the only loving and stable home he has ever known.

Every contribution—whether small or large—brings this family closer to being reunited. Your support will help protect a child who depends entirely of his medical service he is receiving here in Alaska, on the stability of his home and presence of both his parents.

On behalf of our family, thank you for your compassion, your solidarity, and your willingness to stand with us during this difficult time.
