Our beloved father, Abouelela “Brother Ala'a” Menshawey, recently passed away after a long and painful battle with cancer. He was the heart and strength of our family, working tirelessly through illness to provide for us and to help us pursue our dream of becoming doctors. Despite facing four different cancers and enduring 91 days in the ICU, he never stopped thinking of us and gave every bit of his strength to ensure we could continue our education. His passing has left us not only devastated with grief, but also in deep financial hardship. Our mother, already battling diabetes, vision loss, and heart disease, has become even more unwell since his passing and is unable to work. My sister and I have recently arrived in Canada to complete our licensing exams, but without our father’s support, we are struggling to cover the costs of living, school fees, and medical expenses.
