It's time we go back to Guatemala and continue the work the Highland Support Project started nearly 20 years ago. Not only building stoves, but promoting the villages' ability to be active in not only their personal economic development, but also their communities.
Building stoves side by side with the Mayan people in these villages is more than a simple act of love. It means an efficient, environmentally friendly, and safer way to cooking than their traditional IN-DOOR open pit fires. Not to mention putting a stop to respiratory illness, and less wood usage... resulting the aid of landslides from cutting down trees!
Highland Support Project has found systematic change is the most beneficial to the Highlands of Guatemala. In order for change to affect the community, change must begin with the individual. We have the change to be the individuals again, and so do YOU.
t do this alone, and last year it was all of you who made this trip possible. I can't begin to express how grateful we are for that! Since the Highland Support Project is a non-profit, any donation you might be able to make is tax deductible, and they will gladly send you a letter with their tax ID# so that when the time comes, you can file accordingly. If you can't support monetarily, please know prayers are just as important!!
Please feel free to look more into the amazing work HSP is doing http://www.highlandsupportproject.org
