STL's First Mountain Bike Skills Park
Donation protected
St Louis has 100s of miles of amazing trail but we lack one important thing. A mountain bike specific skills park! Kids (and adults) have to drive hours out of town to find rollers, jumps, drops, or wooden features. You know all the fun stuff.——
Mountain Bikers have begun traveling to locations such as Bentonville, AR or Two Rivers MTB Park outside of Springfield, MO to find innovative places to ride their bikes. Why can’t we have that here? Why are we driving hours to find it? Why don’t our young riders have a place to practice the skills needed to enjoy those parks safely?——
The Mountain Bike Shed in Eureka, MO has set out to change that over the last year and now we need your help! The City of Eureka has offered up over 7+ acres at their community and recreation center for a dirt MTB Skills Park. The park will feature a giant dirt pump track and a variety of progressive drops/jumps for all STL riders to hone in their skills. This park will be the launching pad for other similar networks throughout the area.——
So what are we raising money for? Eureka Parks is submitting for a grant from IMBA to professionally design the park. The grant will provide us with $5,000 but requires an in-kind match. The City of Eureka has guaranteed those funds for us to allow us to submit. Our job is to raise money to pay Eureka back and show they chose correctly backing the mountain bike community.——
Our new neighbors at the Shed, Melvin Brewing, have been assisting in the fundraising process. Our first (of many) events is on Saturday 2/2 for “International 2x4 Day: Local Trail Fundraiser” from 4-9pm at the Mountain Bike Shed in Eureka. $10 gets you in the door where you’ll enjoy good times, great food, and all the best IPAs you’ll ever consume.——
Our local race team and community advocates, Roots MTB, will be joining us in the fun. They will be helping the fundraising effort with a RAFFLE for ONE entry in the famous “Women’s MTB Retreat”. For the first time in its history, Roots MTB will be hosting the event right here in St Louis!!!! We couldn’t be more excited that they have brought this stellar event to Greensfelder in 2019 and we are stoked for the oppurtunity to send a lucky rider to join in! The entire Roots MTB Team will be at the Shed for the event on 2/2. Donate $10+ dollars for your chance to win!—-_
