The Saint George Charity launches its 2019 Christmas Gift Appeal

With the festive season fast approaching it is important that we turn our thoughts to those less fortunate than ourselves. This is exactly what the Duquesa Charitable Society of St George has done since it was launched in 2013.
Con la temporada festiva acercándose rápidamente, es importante que giremos nuestros pensamientos a aquellos menos afortunados que nosotros. Esto es exactamente lo que ha hecho la Duquesa Charitable Society of St George desde su lanzamiento en 2013.
Every year for the past 6 years the charity has raised funds to provide Christmas gift bags for underprivileged children from Manilva, Casares, and those attending the Social Kitchen run by Emaus in Estepona.
Todos los años, durante los últimos 6 años, la organización ha recaudado fondos para proporcionar bolsas de regalo de Navidad para los niños desfavorecidos de Manilva, Casares y aquellos que asisten a la Cocina Social dirigida por Emaus en Estepona.
The children are identified by Social Services who provide a list of children by age and gender and the Charity purchases a selection of gifts, totalling some 10 to 15 euros per child, with the emphasis on gifts that will foster creativity, fun and education, and which are age and gender appropriate.
Los Servicios Sociales identifican a los niños y proporcionan una lista por edad y sexo, y la organización benéfica compra una selección de regalos, por un total de 10 a 15 euros por niño, con énfasis en los regalos que fomentarán la creatividad, la diversión y la educación, y que son apropiados para la edad y el género.
The gift bags are then delivered to Social Services and the Social Kitchen where the parents can collect them and give them to their children on Three Kings. This is very important as the charity feels that the only thing sadder than a child receiving no gifts at Christmas time is a parent being unable to give a gift!
Las bolsas de regalo se entregan a los Servicios Sociales y la Cocina Social donde los padres pueden recogerlas y dárselas a sus hijos en el día de reyes. ¡Esto es muy importante ya que la organización benéfica siente que lo único más triste que un niño que no recibe regalos en Navidad es un padre no puede darles un regalo!
The number of children varies from 350 to 500 so it is a mammoth task to raise funds, purchase the gifts, and put together the gift bags, but the Saint George Charity’s volunteers have it down to a well-honed operation.
El número de niños varía de 350 a 500, por lo que es una tarea gigantesca recaudar fondos, comprar los regalos y armar las bolsas de regalos, pero los voluntarios de la organización de caridad de Saint George lo han reducido a una operación bien perfeccionada.
