Help support newcomers in Wisconsin! - Sponsor Circle

Global displacement is at an all-time high, with 100 million people worldwide uprooted due to war, political or economic instability, and the impacts of natural disasters. During this extraordinarily challenging time in our country and for displaced people worldwide, we have decided to sponsor a SIV group and will provide them a place of safety and security. The Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) is granted to Afghans who worked alongside the U.S. government or military, often in dangerous roles that put them and their families at risk.

In response to this critical need, we have formed a group of friends, neighbors, and community members to welcome newcomers to the Madison area through the Sponsor Circle program. Our group members have worked or volunteered with Madison's immigrant community for years. We all want to grow and enrich our community while standing in solidarity with newcomers seeking safety. With our collective knowledge and passion, we are confident in our ability to provide the support required, but we need your help.

As a sponsor group, we are taking on the responsibility of helping newcomers resettle in the United States by supporting them in securing housing, buying food, paying for utilities, and learning English or a job skill. As you all know, the cost of living continues to skyrocket, particularly for housing here in Madison! Please help us in our efforts by donating whatever amount you feel comfortable.

100% of the received funds will be spent on supporting the family’s start-up and living expenses during their transition to independence in our community. We anticipate that most of it will go toward housing-related costs.

How Your Donation Will Help
