Background:
Born in 2002, our son, Skyler Murphy, was diagnosed with autism at 18 months. He had all the classic symptoms and received early intervention till he was 3, then was provided on going intervention through the school district. After graduating (in 2020) he participated in the local school district's Adult Transition Program till he was 21. Skyler largely overcame challenges to his ability to live a life of joy and happiness. He grew to love swimming and bicycling, learned to sail a boat, ride skateboards, play sports... and most of all, make lasting friendships. All of which seem "normal", but a huge accomplishment for some people with neurodivergence.
While in the Adult Transition program, Skyler was largely unhappy with the lack of work opportunities offered, where he could learn a skill, make money, and feel a sense of independence. During this time, Skyler helped his family to found a printing and banner display business. They created products for local sports clubs and contributed to the Palm Beach School for Autism's job training program. Expanding his achievements to help others like himself. This creative collaboration is his legacy to others.
Thank you for helping us honor Skyler's memory.
