I’ve always wanted to do big things with my life, but Sitting With Pride happened by accident. One day, I posted on Facebook that I was a queer caregiver looking for a job… and the idea just popped into my head: why not start an LGBTQ+ and BIPOC friendly caregiving agency? The response was incredible. So many people were interested, but I wanted to do more than just provide jobs, I wanted to create a space that was truly inclusive and affordable, where LGBTQ+ and BIPOC families, caregivers, and allies could interact and build real community. Because true community isn’t just about transactions, it’s about connection, affirmation, and trust.

After 15+ years as a caregiver, I know how it feels to never truly be yourself in the spaces where you work. But now, living in San Diego, I finally feel free to be authentic. Shaved head, wearing what feels good, living life on my terms as a masculine non-binary person. I want families and caregivers to experience that same freedom: to feel seen, safe, and affirmed while working together. Sitting With Pride is more than a platform, it’s a mission. It’s about creating safer spaces for LGBTQ+ and BIPOC families and caregivers, empowering them to build trust, connection, and community. I am in the process of remaking the website and the idea behind Sitting With Pride so it is sustainable for every price range and member of the LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities (including allies). We will also launch an app when the time is right. Your support will help cover startup costs, website development, and lay the groundwork for launching an app in the future.
