Help a Family Begin.

I bait her hook because she thinks, “it’s gross”. I cast her pole, turn the handle, flip the bail... “pop”, bend down and hand her the rod. I whisper “Take a breath son, breathe out and squeeze the trigger”. With a smile on my face I wait to hear that “crack” of his 22. I sip my coffee looking at Jessica, “Those turtle pancakes turned out awesome!” I call their names and wait to hear them run with excitement to the table.

She was never there. There was only silence. The crack never came. The table is still empty.

Infertility. It’s something that a lot of people don’t really talk about, but it’s something that many families struggle with. In our case, 5 years ago we decided to start trying to grow our family. With countless test, medications, doctors and 5 IUIs later, we still haven’t got the pleasure to announce a pregnancy. In December we are scheduled for the next step, In Vitro Fertilization (I.V.F.). The Procedure’s cost is just another hurdle we need to clear. We would like to ask for help from those who have brought joy and love to our lives thus far. We are asking you to help us raise the funds to bring more joy and love to our lives.

The coo’s, the cries, the smiles and the diaper blowouts. The cuddles, the endless amount of laundry and the looks on their faces when they see what Santa left for them under the Christmas Tree. The chance to contribute to the amazingly big family’s we are apart of. To one day be called “Mom.” I have been on a lot of journeys in my lifetime that I have been grateful for. The journey of being a mother is still one I have not yet had the pleasure to embark and it’s the one I desire to navigate the most. I am hoping that one day the empty hole in our lives will be filled with the pitter patter of little feet from a little one.

If you have ever struggled with Infertility you know the pain of trying to keep a smile when some one says “It will happen, I know it”. We stay positive, try to keep faith in the good Lord. Asking him “why?” The doctors assure you “Everything is fine, there is nothing wrong with either of you”. We have come along way from the time we said “Let’s start a family”. Family and friends kept asking “when are you guys going to have kids”, “ it’s about time, you’re not getting any younger?” At first we could laugh, because we had started and knew it was only a matter of time before we could tell them “We are.” Each time they asked, those laughs got lighter and lighter until there was laughter no more. The hardest conversation we have ever had with our moms, dads, brothers, sisters and closest friends, “I would like you stop asking that question please, it hurts, we are having trouble.” From that point on there has been an empty void everyone tiptoes around. I fear we’ll never get to take her fishing, never coach him as he shoots his first rabbit and turtle pancakes are no fun eating by yourself.
