Hello everyone! My name is Sasha, and recently one of my life dreams came true! I am going to the Summer Olympics!!! Ok, maybe I dreamt about competing in them, but having the chance to volunteer there is the next best thing. After a 15-month application process, I have been selected to volunteer with the Equestrian sports in the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics. If you know me at all, you know horses are my passion. When I got my email with my assignment, I literally burst into tears. Happy tears, but I couldn't believe it was happening!

While I cannot wait to make my Olympic dream a reality, as a volunteer I am responsible for all costs. That means I need to cover costs of flights to Brazil, as well as housing and food for 15 days. My hope is that with your support, my dream of making it to the Olympics will be within my reach. I will be supporting the different equestrian events in a range of ways, from assisting judges on the course, to set-up, and maybe even working in the barns. Whatever it is, to be in this environment is a dream come true.

Right now, roundtrip flights start at about $1,200, and housing is about $100+/day (so $1,500+). My goal is to raise $3,000+ in the hopes that will cover most of my costs. I'm sure there will be other things, like health insurance, souvaniers, and hopefully a ticket to an event or two, but my priority is to raise the money so that I can get there and work hard to support the Olympics.

I am pinching pennies and doing all sorts of online training (time to learn Portuguese!) to get ready for this trip, but I can't do it alone. Even your support of $5 or $10 will mean the world to me, and sharing this page will also help me lots. I cannot thank you enough for your support. I promise to take a million pictures, and come back ready to share endless stories. This is a once in a lifetime adventure, and I'm counting the days until Rio 2016!!!
