Send Al Up the Creek with a Paddle!

Albert LaPrince was recruited in 1986 to work at Shem Creek Bar and Grill by John Avenger. John built an oyster bar around Albert and the people came. Albert was known for shucking oysters and he won many championships at the Lowcountry Oyster festival, but his true gift was connecting to those he served at his bar. Every night people came from far and wide to meet Albert, but only once. The second time they came to see their friend. Albert had a way of making you feel he had been waiting especially for you to return to his bar and pull up a stool. He made everyone at his bar feel that they were being taken care of by the best. Albert is now retired. His legs can no longer stand for hours and his shucking days are behind him. Albert has no retirement plan, but he has us -his friends. Now it is our turn to help take care of him. It is time we show what his friendship means to each of us.
We have set up this Go Fund Me page to help Albert with retirement and medical expenses. Please give what you can to help our friend.
And then on April 9, 2017 come celebrate with us as we send Albert - “Up the Creek With a Paddle”. We will celebrate the beginning of Albert’s next journey at Gold Bug Island from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Beer, wine, mixers, and food will be provided. We are looking for help with supplies so this can be an unforgettable day of friendship and fun. Please see the Facebook Page for details.
