The Scott Township Police Department (Lackawanna County) needs your help. We are seeking much needed donations from the community to help fund the training and equipment for our new K9, “Nika”. Nika will be an invaluable asset that will help our officers keep our community even safer. If Nika only locates one (1) lost child or missing person throughout her career, it is worth our effort to see this through. Once we raise these needed funds, Nika will be trained for all of the following:
-Search & Rescue: Nika will be trained to locate our missing and endangered family members such as children and senior citizens.
-Explosive Detection: Nika will be trained to locate explosive items such as bombs, firearms, and ammunition. With this training Nika will help officers more rapidly rule our schools and businesses safe when threats of violence involving firearms or bombs are received.
-Narcotics Detection: Nika will be trained to locate narcotics. With this training Nika will help officer rid our community (especially our SCHOOLS) of illegal dangerous drugs.
-Apprehension: Nika will be trained to assist officers locate and apprehend suspects. With this training Nika will help officers track and locate suspects that burglarize and rob our homes and businesses. This training will also assist officer in avoiding “Use of Force” incidents as a K9’s mere presents has shown to be a valuable deterrent.
-Community Relations: There is no better tool which brings the community and their police department working closer together to keep everyone safer. Nika will also assist with informational programs for our children.
*Please remember that we cannot add this invaluable asset to the community without your help. We respectfully request your donations to this important cause.
