Save Mina’s Life: Urgent Help Needed

Hello everyone, I am Mina's close friend and I am organizing this fundraiser because she urgently needs help. I am a Columbia graduate and a practicing lawyer in Vancouver. I am a long-time advocate for human rights.

Mina lives with severe, intractable chronic pain. She is a young woman with debilitating spinal damage and both neurological and autoimmune disorders. She needs ongoing treatment with IVIg to survive. She also needs to see her specialists in pain medicine, neurology, and immunology on a regular basis.

Mina lost her health, job, housing, and any sense of security. With all this and daily physical suffering, she was driven to apply for Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) in Switzerland, for which she was approved. It is unconscionable and inhumane to force her to make such a decision when all she needs is some financial help in order to obtain a decent quality of life.

The financial help will allow her to secure housing, meet her basic needs, pay the portion of her medical debt preventing her from receiving healthcare, and to help pay part of the healthcare she needs in order to live.

In closing, I have known Mina for over 7 years. She is highly educated and held a professional job all her life prior to becoming disabled. She is an intelligent, determined, and strong person who lived her life helping others to a degree rarely seen in a person. The least we can do is ease her suffering and stress which I know we can accomplish together.
