***UPDATE***
My beautiful family have welcomed 3 newborns during the period of the genocide. All the babies are healthy and well, despite their first days on this earth taking place during this tragic period. Your donations to this fundraiser helped ensure they arrived safely, and sustained them in their first weeks and months, and further donations will continue to do so. We can never fully express our gratitude for the support we have been given to be able to soften even in small ways the harshness of these innocent children being born into such threatening circumstances. The family, in their generosity, have also been able to pass some resources to others around them in the most desperate need.

Yaman - my newborn nephew, born to my sister Somaya and her husband Mohamad in September 2024.

My nephew Ibrahim, born to my brother Mohamad and his wife Huda , also in September 2024.

My great nephew Sakeb, born in October 2024.
*** END UPDATE***

I need your help to save my family.

My name is Sulaiman and I was born and brought up in Gaza. I have now been resident in the UK for 15 years. My mother, siblings and their spouses, and nieces and nephews all live in central Gaza. They have been struggling through the genocide since October 2023. With heavy hearts, we now accept that the situation has become unsustainable and the most vulnerable family members must leave urgently for medical treatment.

Others need help to be able to survive the challenge of staying on their land while under great pressure to leave. Starvation and destruction is being imposed, as Israeli and American authorities attempt to enforce complete ethnic cleansing on Gaza.

I am including pictures of us in happier times before the genocide, taken when myself and my brother Raafat visited Gaza in 2022; this was the first and only time I have seen my family members since being displaced from Gaza in 2009.

( Me, sister Anwaar and her daughters Samaah and Toleen)

My family are 56 souls trying to survive together in one small dwelling without adequate water or food. 27 of my family members are children. Every day when they wake up, they do not know if it will be their last. They have suffered 17 months of terrifying bombardment, displacement and hunger. The famine is escalating, as are the medical needs of vulnerable family members and the traumatic impact of the situation on the children. They all have dreams and deserve to be given a chance at life.

To get this chance, my mother and sister must cross into Egypt as soon as the border opens. We must be ready for this whenever it becomes possible.

The others require aid to be supported to fight this new Nakba, currently being planned by the Zionists and their alliances. Despite all they have suffered, they insist on continuing with their dedication to resisting and living in their homeland. They are happy to stay, even amidst rubble and destruction. Food prices are astronomical. water is scare, medical facilities have been obliterated.

Once my mum and sister reach Egypt to access medical treatment, a network of relatives, friends and supporters are waiting to receive them and facilitate their onward journey. We need your help to get them into these safe hands.

( Me, brother Raafat - who visited Gaza with me when these pictures were taken, my only sibling not living under the genocide - sister Wisam and her daughter Selina.)

My family are not just numbers to be added to the incomprehensible death toll of murdered Gazan civilians. They are mothers and fathers – many are medical staff who have served in maternity units and emergency departments for years, including during the catastrophic recent months. They are innocent children who need a chance to access medical care, food and water, safety and opportunities to start to recover from their traumas.

( Me and my nieces Ameera and Samaah)

Most of all they need their lives and their futures: as Gazans and survivors of a lifetime of occupation, siege and bombing in the world’s largest open air prison, who have much to teach the world.

This is why I am asking you to help me keep my family alive during this extended period of disaster. The actual cost to support the whole family is much higher than the £35,000 we are initially aiming for. This target of 35K is to save the most medically vulnerable family members before it's too late, and to ensure the family members do not starve as they resist with their bodies and flesh.

Please help us as we fight to survive the genocide and continue to exist as a vibrant, loving, proud Palestinian family. Any amount, large or small, is extremely gratefully received and will go towards my family members getting the chance to live to see a day when bombs, death and hunger are not their daily experience, when the children can be children, play, smile and be free, and we can continue to do our part to keep the flame of Palestinian freedom alive to one day see a free Palestine. Thank you.
