Sabine is a transgender independent journalist from the Sierra Foothills who was recently assaulted and arrested during an anti-vax demonstration in Sonora. We are asking the community to help cover immediate medical and legal costs.

Sabine has done extensive work covering issues impacting rural communities, monitoring and researching right-wing activism, as well as exploring hate-group associations in the Gold Country. Some of Sabine’s notable work from the last two years have covered the early formation of the hate-group “Patriots of Gold Country,” Antisemitic propaganda in local politics, and national ties to the 2021 Capital Attack .

Through their journalistic work, Sabine has become a high visibility activist who has been harassed, stalked, and targeted by local transphobic and anti-Semetic groups. During the latest coverage of an anti-vax demonstration, anti-vaxxers assaulted Sabine. When police arrived on the scene, Sabine was arrested with excessive force. We are hoping to challenge the legitimacy of the charges, the arrest procedure, and seek accountability for the event.

Sabine’s work helps maintain transparency and accountability both in the political and public life of key figures in the area. We are asking the community to help Sabine cover both the immediate legal challenge, as well as long term challenges that may arise.
