Hello Hello World. Hello beautiful people. We have some sad news to share. The beloved Pinky’s Space roadway dining shed (our treasured garden space oasis) was illegally torn down with zero warning by the city of New York’s Department of Transportation (DOT). ZERO WARNING!

We weren’t even given the courtesy to remove the elaborate pink neon lights. The neon lights were literally cut and thrown in the dumpster before they continued to demolish it all. We weren’t even allowed to keep any of the wood!

Pinky’s Space is a small restaurant and art gallery that was built on love. We are a husband and wife team with a son who is about to turn 8yrs old. We’ve invested every penny into Pinky’s Space and we depended on the NYC Open Restaurant Program to keep our doors open.

Our DOT permit to operate an outdoor dining restaurant is current with our last inspection logged earlier this month at which point there was no mention of a possible revocation or removal of the dining structure. We were informed that DOT will begin to issue fines for any non-compliance violations. To our dismay, on the morning of October 27, 2022, the DOT ruthlessly destroyed our very livelihood in a matter of hours. It took two years to build and 3 hours to eviscerate. They constructed a 4 block perimeter and assembled an 18 person crew with many crew members blatantly mocking us during the process. We asked to see paperwork while we stood our ground to halt the demolition. We wanted answers. We deserved answers. Instead, NYPD informed us we would be arrested for civil disobedience if we did not remove ourselves from the premises because the city had ordered the removal. No paperwork. No notification. ZERO WARNING!

We are distraught, but we are resilient. We are kindly asking for your support while we take the necessary steps to move forward and make things right again. We believe in love not hate. Thank you. Thank you.
