Help Sunny and other deaf children in Zambia
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Florence and I volunteer for an NGO based in Zambia called The Sign Language Channel of Zambia. Our goal as a charity is to empower deaf children by putting them through school and supporting them to find work. Sadly, there are many deaf in Zambia.

One of the leading causes is malaria, as when caught as a child it can cause hearing loss. Deafness massively disadvantages children, as the school system in Zambia isn't always equipped to properly teach deaf children, meaning they have to travel to a far away boarding school and pay expensive boarding fees to enroll. Their families can never imagine to pay these fees, so they reach out to our charity for help. We are currently raising money to help three deaf children already enrolled in school - Sunny, Peggy and Stella.

All the money raised will be used to pay for their boarding school fees and basic groceries while they are there. Here is a little insight into one of their stories. Sunny is a boy in his early 20s who still hasn't finished his secondary education. Unfortunately, it is all too common to find young deaf adults learning with teenagers in secondary school, as their start in life is so disadvantaged. Sunny's mum is too unwell to care for him and his dad has died, so Sunny lived with his grandmother. In the last year, his grandmother sadly died meaning in the school holidays he lives with distant relatives, the only family he has left. Once he finishes his secondary school education, we will continue to support him to find work so he can become a valued member of society.

Please be assured that any donation, no matter how small, will have a huge impact in Sunny, Peggy and Stella's lives. As the famous quote goes, "education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world".
