Raising funds to support Subiaco Justice Centre Inc.

On Easter Monday I am running the Boston Marathon. This is important to me for a couple of reasons:

• Boston is a notoriously difficult marathon to gain entry to. I donated a significant amount of my own money to charity just to participate.

• It will (assuming I finish, which Sportsbet presently has tracking at $3.50/$1) be the crowning moment of my non-existent athletic career: attaining my very own 6 star medal which commenced 10 years ago - awarded to anyone who completes the 6 major marathons of the world.

I am looking forward to running the marathon on Monday with my friend Tim Hammond.

Unrelatedly, I sit on the board of a small community legal centre that provides free legal advice to people who cannot afford it in a range of areas: family law, consumer law, crime etc. The Centre runs off the smell of an oily rag and lives from hand to mouth with grants and fundraisers – it has many volunteer lawyers and students who keep it running. Given I have donated to every Movember, Ride for Youth and other good cause that has come my way, I thought I’d use this marathon opportunity as a shameless way to raise funds for this community legal centre which so very desperately needs it.
