Help Tibetan Youth Go To Free Tibet Action Camp!
Free Tibet! Action Camp is a week-long intensive training in the skills and strategies of nonviolent action and grassroots organizing for the current and future leaders of the movement for Tibetan independence. Camp brings together student activists, Tibetan community organizers, and seasoned human rights campaigners from around the world and gives young activists the skills to be a leader in the movement to free Tibet! It is a way to invest in our community as young Tibetan people who care about the fight for human rights, and the preservation of our history, culture, and religion.
Tibet is something that is very near and dear to my heart. As you know I am a mixed Tibetan, my mother being Tibetan and my father being American. My grandfather was a part of the famous Chushi Gangdruk resistance, warriors who bravely fought against the Chinese occupation of Tibet and also guided and protected His Holiness the Dalai Lama to safety in India in 1959. Growing up I knew it was important for me to learn as much as I could about Tibet and how to help amplify the voices of our people. Interning at Students for a Free Tibet has been one of the greatest experiences of my life, providing me with so many resources and I love being able to work with and connect with so many young Tibetans worldwide.
As young college students, my friend / Vice President Tenzin Gyatso and I both need some help paying for the travel to make it to the SFT Action Camp this year, so we are appealing to our friends and family to help us with this important cause! Please consider donating to help cover the roundtrip airfare from Portland to Boston. Once we are in Boston, SFT will take care of all transportation to the action camp as well as lodging, and meals.
Expenses:
- Roundtrip Airfare $800 per person ($1600 total for 2 people) including Go Fund Me processing fees.
- Any additional funds raised will be used for the PSU Students for a Free Tibet Chapter to grow our grassroots network!
We are the future leaders we’ve been waiting for! Please help us reach our goal!
Sincerely,
Tsering Yangdon Sierra Thompson and Tenzin Gyatso
