Gizmo is a kitten who came to us from a hoarding situation in our hometown of Clifton, NJ, where nearly 50 cats were living in desperate circumstances. Gizmo is extremely small for his age, and his health is fragile. In his short life, he has known suffering, hunger, and pain. His flea infestation was one of the worst we have ever seen, and because of it he was anemic and very weak. Gizmo was also malnourished, dehydrated, and suffering from digestive issues.

Gizmo's back legs are not working properly, and he has difficulty walking and using his litterbox, so we took him for a neurology consult with Dr. Glass at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Glass believes that the root of Gizmo's problem is a spinal cord injury. He needs an MRI, and possibly surgery if his suspected spinal cord injury can be repaired. Helping Gizmo in the middle of a long and difficult kitten season means that we desperately need funds in order to provide him with the care that he needs.

Some people ask us why we are willing to spend thousands of dollars to help just one animal, and our answer is this - that every living being deserves our love and compassion, and every animal, even those with severe medical challenges, deserves the chance to live a healthy, happy, pain-free life.  The animals in our care are treated as beloved family members, and we go the extra mile to provide them with the food, medical care, physical rehabilitation, and love that they need to heal.

Angels of Animals was founded to help animals that traditional shelters don't have the resources or manpower to save - those who are injured, critically ill, or in need of surgery  and 24-hour care. We cannot save every animal - no one person or organization can do that - but we can save this one (and others like him) with your help.
