Hello Community!
We are Sharing A Meal - Sayville Soup Kitchen.
A Little History...
In 1994, members of the Sayville Congregational United Church of Christ recognized the need for local outreach to members of the community who were faced with hunger. As a result, the congregation, with the support of the Interfaith Nutrition Network, created the soup kitchen to provide a hot nutritious meal every Tuesday night to anyone in need. Originally named Having Friends INN, in 2017 we became an independent soup kitchen named Sharing a Meal. Since 1994, parishioners from St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, St John’s Lutheran Church, Bayport Methodist Church, Sayville Methodist Church and individual members of the community have joined the volunteer staff of Sharing a Meal. Now serving dinner Monday through Thursday, Sharing a Meal remains dedicated to serving those who are less fortunate in the greater Sayville community.
TODAY We are raising funds for a new Commercial Stove / Oven Replacement and Installation. Our dedicated volunteers cook 4 nights a week serving guests at our location on Middle Road. But now the time has come for some upgrades to assist our volunteers and keep meals coming to those in need! The Goal is to remove and dispose the former commercial equipment, purchase the new equipment and have it installed properly.
Any amount is helpful to reaching our goal, whether it be $10 or larger donations and/or sponsorships from businesses. We welcome all to participate in helping us take the kitchen to the next level.
We thank you and ask that even if you can not give, please share our fundraiser to reach as many participants as we can! Our community has always been supportive and we thank everyone who has donated with us to keep food and supplies coming into the kitchen. We wish everyone an amazing summer!
