Ryan Huisman's Legacy

Ryan Wayne Huisman, also known as House, Rhino, and Oosk, bounced into this world on a perfectly sunny Thursday in September of 1980. On November 10, 2022, with deep sadness, we said goodbye to our beloved Ryan.

His passion for the outdoors was where his light shined the brightest. His love of things outdoors began early; in Scouting he started as a Tiger Cub and followed the scouting trail all the way to Eagle Scout. His favorite experiences were the annual snow camp and going to Camp Melakwa. Some of his fondest memories in nature were the summer he spent working in Yellowstone National Park and getting into the backcountry in the Tetons, camping and stargazing in the middle of the Alvord Desert, and his annual birthday camping trips to Crescent Lake. He loved to camp, kayak, fly his drone, swim at Fall Creek, and sometimes just enjoy a beautiful sunrise with a good strong cup of coffee - anything in the great outdoors, taking in all the beauty that nature and God gave to fill his heart. Ryan also loved to take road trips and explore his home state of Oregon and new places. He had big plans and dreams to travel the world and we hope that you'll think of Ryan on your own adventures so that his memory lives on in those special places with you.

To honor Ryan and his love for the outdoors, we are asking people to contribute to help us renew the Eagle Project that Ryan completed in 1998 at Mt.Pisgah. We plan to refresh the picnic site along the Willamette River near the entrance of Mt Pisgah. We need landscaping, new boards for the table and benches, a secured trash bin, and fresh paint on the posts. We are going to work with a local Scout troop to help revive this picnic table area. All the money we raise will fund this project, maintain the site, and provide a donation to the Scout troop that volunteers.
