Running for CLL Research

I recently moved to Nashville to pursue Teach for America. In search of a grounding force, I did something I never thought I would...I signed up for a half marathon. Those who know me from college know that this time last year I would laugh at the offer to go on a run. But amidst the steep learning (and teaching) curve it's been a blessing to have something to work towards that forces introspection.

My father paid for my half marathon registration as a holiday gift. He suggested checking the box committing to fundraising $1,500.00 for St. Judes by April 25th- a  noble pledge. Of course the most decent and good human I know sought to gift me the gift of giving back. Andy, the man with a quiet strength and a childish laugh, is living with chronic lymphocytic leukemia. I committed to giving back elsewhere.

I am giving back to the battle against CLL. I am giving back to love. I am giving back to my Daddy.

Please donate what you can to support CLL research - all funds will go to the CLL Research Consortium. All donations are deeply and strongly appreciated.

Those who know Andy know that he is kind. That he is spiritual. That he is patient. And that he loves Rumi. I leave you with this quote,

“I want to sing like the birds sing, not worrying about who hears or what they think.”

Thank you for reading. Sing like the birds.
