Rewarding Kindness

Last week I accidentally dropped my wallet while passing through a "sketchy" part of town. Inside my wallet was roughly $2k cash (every dollar I have struggled to save on my own), all my IDs, and exclusive contact info for top industry professionals. Within minutes I had a phone call from a sweet family of 4 who spoke less English than I do Spanish. They gave me the address of their small home on a dirt lot where I could come pick up my wallet.
Just to think what keeping that money could have provided for them, and that they seemed to not even consider it for a moment. People are amazing. I will never give up hope in humanity. Ever.
My friends and I are hoping to raise $2,000 to return to this family as a gesture of "rewarding kindness". The remainder of the funds will go to their local school district to promote arts education. Education has always been incredibly important to me and I am a firm supporter of arts education as a tool for a better future. Our total goal is $5,000.
