This is my 25-year-old son, Cameron. I have not seen him since he was 2. His mother moved with him to Texas approximately 23 years ago, where she married and changed his last name. Naturally, this has made it nearly impossible for me to find him over the years. I take full responsibility for why she left. I screwed up.
A few years back, with the help of a friend and the internet, I finally located him! During that time I found out that, sadly, his mother had passed away in 2006. Cameron and I have been in contact for a few years now and communicate often by phone and Facebook. He enlisted in the Navy last year and is now stationed in Norfolk, Virginia.
I want to visit Cameron before too much time passes. (And to introduce him to his sister, my daughter Megan!) I work part time as a pizza delivery driver and have an occasional DJ gig, so I have not been able to save enough to make the trip. I'm asking for help in order to make this reunion a reality. My goal is to make the trip no later than May.
I figured out and rounded up the approximate costs for a 5-day trip for my daughter and I rounded up: $1000 for two round-trip airfares from San Francisco, $500 for lodging, and $500 for food and fun for 3. About $800 for a week of work I will miss. $200 for car rental or maybe use Uber.   I no longer have money saved becasue my car broke down recently and had to fix it.
The past is not what's important. What matters now is establishing a face-to-face, man-to-man relationship with my only son. I am grateful to you, Cameron, for giving me this chance to do the right thing.
