My son, U.S. Army Sgt. Hason S. Correa, a decorated Afghanistan War veteran and proud father of three, was brutally gang-assaulted and stabbed to death in Harlem, New York on October 19, 2018. He survived enemy fire overseas, only to be murdered on the streets of the city he loved.

The system failed us. Despite multiple people involved in his killing, plea deals and lenient policies allowed his murderers to avoid full accountability. That injustice ignited my mission.

I founded Rescue Angel® to stand with victims’ families, support those harmed by violent crime, and fight for real systemic change. Through Rescue Angel, I am now championing The Sgt. Hason Correa Justice for Victims Act — landmark legislation that sends a clear message: “Take a Life, Do Life.” No plea deals for murderers.
