For years, I heard stories of families in Syria who lost everything. But nothing prepared me for what I witnessed when I returned and saw the devastation with my own eyes.
Sham is an 8-year-old girl with a bright smile and a resilient spirit. Her story begins amid unimaginable hardship — her mother, nine months pregnant, risked her life to escape the relentless bombardment and sniper fire by the Assad forces. Crawling through tunnels with nothing but a backpack and hope, she brought Sham into the world amid chaos and fear.
Today, Sham lives with her mother, grandfather, grandmother, and two aunts — all of them crowded into a relative's home. Displaced and struggling, the family has no place of their own and cannot afford rent. What they need now is not just shelter but a chance to rebuild their lives with dignity.
This campaign is dedicated to Sham's family, who, like so many others, lost their home but never lost hope. Their story is one of resilience, survival, and love in the face of unimaginable hardship.
Now, as Syria begins a long journey toward recovery, we have an opportunity to help in a real, tangible way.
