The Collins are a young family whose lives have been turned upside down. After becoming ill suddenly one afternoon and at the age of just 29, Maria Collins (Ria) has been diagnosed with a significant brain tumour. She will begin treatment by undergoing urgent surgery on 16th September, but the diagnosis is likely to impact on the whole family for the foreseeable future. She will require multiple visits to specialists at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge – a 150 mile round trip from their home.
Ria is funny, fabulous and feisty and would never ask for help, yet would go without to help others. It is for this reason that we are hoping that her friends, family and the wider community will come together to support her and her husband Chris and their two children. Like many hardworking families, the Collins’ do not have a lot of “spare” money at the end of the month and no savings. Now with a reduction in income following Maria’s diagnosis, the family have some challenging times ahead.
We want to try to soften the blow and make life a little easier for them. The funds raised will go towards ensuring that the family have a roadworthy car that can handle the mileage that they will be doing for Maria’s treatment and any surplus will go towards bills and other essentials. We hope that this will reduce some of the worry for them at this difficult time.
All donations will make a huge difference and we thank you enormously. If you can’t donate, then please share or follow us on Facebook (Raising funds for Ria) and help us to reach as many people as possible.
