It may come as a surprise but maintaining trails is expensive even with the support of free labour from our volunteer dig crew! To resurface a 500m section of trail requires on average 150 tons of aggregate, the cost of this aggregate would be circa £4500! Queen Elizabeth Country Park has approx 16km of official trails with about half of these requiring to be resurfaced that is a whopping £72,000 of aggregate and that doesn’t include the tools or equipment required to do the work. Our fund raisers aim to raise these funds to enable the resurfacing work to be completed making QECP an all weather riding destination available for everyone!
