Hello everyone, I’m Capt Lakh Bahadur Gurung MVO, 2 RGR – Intake 1999.
To commemorate Intake 1999 and the legacy of Gurkhas, I am taking on a personal challenge of cycling 1,000 kilometres and running 999 kilometres over 100 days; a total distance of 1,999 kilometres. This means covering at least 10 km cycling and 10 km running every day.
This challenge is dedicated to raise funds for The Gurkha Museum’s Project KAIDA in Winchester on behalf of Intake 1999 and RGR.
Day 80 completed only 20 days to go!!
As of 28 April 2026, I have cycled 600 km and ran over 800 km, the equivalent of over 23 marathons on foot. The final 20 days will be the toughest and the most important.
Project KAIDA represents the Gurkha way: a unique blend of heritage, courage, discipline and a forward looking mindset. For over 211 years, Gurkhas have served with this spirit. This challenge is my small way of honouring that legacy and helping to ensure it is preserved for future generations.
If you have been waiting for the right moment to support, now is that moment. Your contribution, no matter the amount will help to carry this effort over the finish line and support the redevelopment of The Gurkha Museum, so it’s stories, values and history can be shared with the world.
Thank you sincerely for your support.
Namaste and Dhanyabad!
