The Easton Planning & Zoning Commission (P&Z) has adopted a Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD) and proposed new zoning regulations that will leave Easton open to commercialization, while at the same time creating new and onerous restrictions on how citizens use private property. Over 90% of the comments at the hearing on the POCD were in opposition to the plan and yet P&Z, with no discussion of the views expressed at the hearing, adopted the plan . Literally 100% of the citizens who attended the public hearing regarding the zoning regulations spoke against both the proposed regulations and the village (commercial) district specifically. Join our effort to Preserve Easton's Town Meeting form of government.
The Town Meeting is the legally protected legislative body of Easton with rights that are defined and protected by state statutes — rights that we believe have been violated.
A group of Easton Citizens (The Easton Coalition) is suing to restore and protect those rights. There are two ongoing lawsuits, one regarding the 9/24/2018 petitioned town meeting and one regarding the 4/30/2018 annual town meeting.

At the September 24, 2018 Town Meeting:
• Citizens were denied due process in the means by which voting was conducted, voter eligibility was (not) verified, and votes were counted in a chaotic atmosphere (See link to 9/24 Town Meeting - Part 5.)
• A motion to adjourn the question of town purchases, leases, and sales of town property to a machine vote was improperly denied
At the April 30, 2018 Annual Town Meeting:
• Town leaders voted to prevent the Town Meeting from conducting its legal business when the moderator refused to allow the town’s financials to be presented as required by state statute.
