Please help us put a new roof on our parents house

My name is Kate and my brother is Neil (Hessian) our parents house was destroyed by fire on Saturday 5th April in the evening. There is substantial fire damage to their house, the house they have lived in for 53 years.

we are unable to claim on insurance because the insurance companies would not cover the thatch as it was due to be removed in two months time and convert to tile/slate so that it could be insured.

Our parents are starting again from scratch, we are supporting them in them building their house again and carrying on living in the same village as they have done for the last 53 years.

only 2 rooms were unaffected directly by fire but all have smoke and water damage.

there were over 80 firefighters trying to tackle the fire and they saved as much as they could of the walls but only the ground floor of the house remains, no bathrooms, no bedrooms, no loft space no roof - all this was destroyed.

we don’t expect to raise a huge amount of money, but friends and family have asked us to set this up so we thought we would do this so we can get a new roof over their heads, make new memories, buy new furniture and clothes and shoes, when I say they lost everything they have but my brother and myself are still grateful that we have our parents with us it could have be so much worse.

my dad is 80 this year and if we can get them close to a new home before the end of the year then this will be our aim.

we don’t like asking for help but many people have suggested this and if we raise more then this will all go towards building them their new home.
