Hello, and welcome to Pilots4Paws. Working with established partners in Northern Ontario, such as Paws of the North Rescue, we aim to relocate and rehome Northern pups who need a second chance. The lack of reliable veterinary services in our Northern communities, primarily the lack of spay/neuters, has led to an overwhelming number of puppies being born.
Our mission is simple; we aim to facilitate the transportation of these dogs and puppies. By land, this trip is upwards of 12 hours, requiring multiple volunteer drivers. By air, we can get a load of dogs from Timmins to Toronto in under 3 hours, easing the stress on the animals and allowing for a greater frequency of trips.
Our introduction to volunteer flying was with a beautiful pup named Jessi. Jessi had sustained severe injuries and needed emergency veterinary care. She was hit by a car and found left for dead on the side of the road in Moosonee. At the time, the odds of her survival were low. She was commercially flown from Moosonee to Timmins and desperately needed a way to get to a vet specialist in Toronto. We were called to help. Based out of London, we woke up to an early morning departure and, within two hours, made it to Timmins. By early afternoon, Jessi was safely in Toronto receiving care. Likely, she would not have survived the trip by land. Now, after many months of rehab, Jessi has made a dramatic recovery and is in a loving home in the GTA.
Our most significant hurdles are our operating costs. One round-trip flight costs a minimum of $750 out of pocket, and we can transport up to 10 puppies per trip. Your donations go towards fuel, operational costs, ramp fees and rental fees that allow us to embark on rescue missions with a moment's notice. Any amount of donation is accepted and appreciated to help out these pups. Thank you all.
