Perry was diagnosed with high-grade sarcoma cancer in his left leg twenty-six months ago. The cancer failed to respond to treatment and resulted in Perry's leg being amputated at the hip joint in May 2015. We were confident the Emory Healthcare team could stop the aggressive cancer. Unfortunately the cancer relapsed in September 2016 when scans revealed a small malignant nodule in my left lung.. A few weeks later, a large cancerous mass was discovered in Perry's lower abdomen. Sadly surgery in mid-November was unsuccessful. We were told at the time Doctors at Emory could do nothing else to save my brother;'s life, only prolong it.
Although he has battled bravely, Perry recieved some very bad news this week, when the Oncology team at Emory University Hospital told him the cancer is spreading rapidly through his body, and advising him to sign up for hospice care.
Perry desperately wishes to die in Oregon, surrounded by his family and not alone in Georgia. It appears we may now only have a matter of weeks to make Perry's dying wish of being with his family come true. Please help us raise the funds for an air or ground ambulance to transport my brother from the nursing facility in Atlanta to a hospice in Portland.
