Help Us Relocate and Rebuild Stability

We are a queer, love-filled family of three, me (Shanel), my husband Molly, and our 6 year old son, Elery. We’ve always lived with big hearts and tiny budgets, doing our best to make magic out of little. Love is our luxury, but right now, we need help from community to get through. This summer has been especially hard. We’ve been hit with eviction after months of struggling to keep up with rent in Las Vegas. Court has given us until August 25 to move out, but we’re still waiting for my check to come through so we can leave. Both Molly and I already have jobs waiting for us in Michigan, and Elery has a school spot ready too. All that’s standing in the way of our new start is getting there. Through it all, we’ve tried to keep things as normal as possible for Elery. He just finished his only week of school here in Vegas, and he had such a good time, using the heartmarks we draw on our hands each day to help with nervousness. He’s resilient and full of joy, but he deserves stability, not uncertainty. I’m also finishing my bachelor’s degree while working and parenting. My fall semester, my new job, and Elery’s new school all start on August 25, the very same day we’ll lose our current housing. Time is pressing, and we’re doing everything in our power to hold it together until we can step into the next chapter. Your donation helps us cover the moving costs to Michigan and keeps us from falling into homelessness in this in-between moment.
