With the uncertainty brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and local city government's inability and unwillingness to provide meaningful security to our community, it has become abundantly clear that  neighborhoods must spring into action to provide for themselves. The People's Revolutionary Party Long Beach, a socialist mass aid project which has continually organized food and hygiene item distributions in Long Beach, needs your material assistance. We plan on using funds donated here to provide weekly soap, food, water and feminine hygiene distributions free of charge for our local community which is dealing with closures of schools, libraries and other community centers.  Additionally, the PRP  is in the preliminary stages of constructing public hand-washing stations for our city’s unhoused who have communicated the difficulty of maintaining their hygiene beacuse the city of Long Beach fails to provide adequate access to public washroom facilities. The creation of these hand-washing stations not only provides the dignity of being clean but also assists our community as a whole combat the dangers presented by a potentially deadly, highly communicable virus.  Long Beach is not only threatened with COVID-19 but a local government that prioritizes profit at the expense of its citizens. Currently, 58% of Long Beach citizens have to spend 30-49 % of their income on housing costs. The mass closure of LBUSD schools and the potential closure of work spaces means average working class families may find themselves unable to procure basic living necessities.
