ART FOR OUR COMMUNITY, CREATED BY OUR COMMUNITY!

The ongoing creation of new public artworks is crucial for our community’s growth and identity. The Public Painting Project needs your help to meet its fundraising goal to support the creation of new public murals in downtown Eau Claire.

OUR GOALS:
PPP was founded by artists Jo Ellen Burke and Sylvia Annelise Hecht with the mission to enable members of the community to become involved in the creation of our public artwork. Our primary goals are:
  • To build relationships with area partners who see the value in growing our public art scene.
  • Educate more local artists to enable them to spearhead their own mural projects in the future.
  • Provide financial support for area mural artists as they help to foster artwork in our community.
HOW YOUR CONTRIBUTION WILL BE USED:
PPP is committed to establishing a fair compensation rate for the artists who create our city’s beautiful murals. Every dollar of your contribution will go directly toward artist stipends. Every artist/artist team who receives Mural Art Fund sponsorship will be paid for their work at $20 per square foot.

In addition to fair compensation for muralists, this money will also subsidize the cost of mural creation for area businesses and building owners who desire to use their public walls as sites for new mural art. Accepted applicants (mural clients) will be responsible for as little as 25% of the total mural cost, which will minimize the financial barriers for the members of our community who would like to install artwork on their exterior walls.

Your sponsorship will enable local businesses to contribute to our public arts scene while fueling our creative economy and ensuring living wages for the creators of each new artwork.

THE MURALS:
We have just finished our Workshop, teaching 20 artists the facets of mural painting, and have followed with our inaugural mural 'Revelry', located at 1st Ave. storage units, just off the Phoenix Park bridge. The theme of the new mural is “Outdoor Community Gatherings.”

After completing the mural, all the participating artists were entered into PPP’s database of mural artists. They are now eligible to apply for Mural Art Fund sponsorship for future public mural projects.
