Puerto Morelos Fire & Rescue Equip

Donation protected
Our story.  The municipality of Puerto Morelos, Mexico is in desperate need of fire fighting equipment. In 2016 Puerto Morelos separated from Cancun and became its own municipality. Before that, Cancun had been responsible for the fire protection of our communities, so this change has left Puerto Morelos and Leona Vicario with very limited Fire and Rescue equipment.

Over the past year we have been working in conjunction with the Puerto Morelos Fire Department to acquire some used, but well maintained fire and rescue equipment from Edmonton, AB, Canada.

Well good news!  We are so thankful to be receiving a donation of a fire truck similar to the photo above. They are also donating complete sets of fire fighters' bunker gear, helmets, boots, axes, shovels, hoses and other available equipment (photo below).  All of this will be used to support Fire and Rescue in the entire municipality which also encompasses the town of Leona Vicario.  The approximate value of the truck and equipment is $35,000.

We need your help!  We are now planning the transportation of the truck and gear 6500 km (4000 mi)  to Puerto Morelos.   We have volunteers to drive the truck and also one of the volunteers (Chris Hardeman - a fire Captain ) will dedicate his time and expertise toward training the Puerto Morelos fire fighters on the proper use of the truck and equipment.

It's a great cause!  Your donations will help cover the costs for the transportation, including costly insurance, fuel, oil change, tolls and some travel expenses to bring the equipment down. Any extra funds will go towards the purchase of other equipment required by the fire department.

We should be receiving the truck and equipment in the summer of 2018 and hope to have it delivered by the end of the year. We ask that you open your hearts and wallets to help us make this a reality.

Thank-you  from all of us involved with this endeavor. Your generosity is greatly appreciated by everyone in the communities of Puerto Morelos and Leona Vicario.

Nuestra historia.
