What is the Ohio Association of Physician Assistants (OAPA)?
Formed in 1978, the Ohio Association of Physician Assistants (OAPA) has provided a foundation for the PA profession in Ohio. This organization promotes quality, cost-effective, accessible health care through the physician assistant–physician team approach. OAPA has and continues to strive to advance this profession through legislation, providing CME opportunities, and promoting our career to the general public.

What is the PA Olympics (PAO)?
The Ohio PAO is OAPA’s annual student fundraiser that was founded in 2016 by student members of OAPA. The mission of this fundraiser is to foster unity and connections between Ohio PA programs and PA-Cs through participation in fundraising and engagement with a medical charity. At the end of the annual fundraiser, the Ohio PA programs celebrate their fundraising efforts by coming together for a track and field style event and friendly competition (virtual in 2022 due to COVID). A PAO winner is determined based on the amount fundraised and points awarded during the field day. The winning program has the honor of nominating the following year’s charity.

Alliance for Children & Families was nominated by the University of Mount Union and confirmed by the PAO Committee to receive donations from the 2022 PAO. This nonprofit organization offers care to their community through an on-site health clinic and programs for housing, healthy eating, establishing healthy habits in children, employment, education, and more.
