Outback for #BLM
I'm raising money to benefit Dont Shoot Portland (Dont Shoot PDX), and any donation will help make an impact.
The course is a 364 mile gravel ‘Bikepacking’ route starting on the OC & E rail trail in Klamath Falls and ventures north through the vast, remote high desert of central Oregon, ending where the Deschutes River meets the powerful Columbia River.
Currently the fastest non-stop effort was completed in the 2014 inaugural running of the now defunct organized ride by Ira Ryanof Breadwinner Cycles.
I’ll be attempting to beat the current standing time of 28hours & 4 min.
I will start my ride midday Saturday June 20th and ride through the night and finish on Sunday.
More information about Dont Shoot Portland (Dont Shoot PDX): Achieve social change through education and the arts
“Our organizational work and activism, including direct community education workshops, support the outreach of our continued advocacy as first respondents and has helped community members contribute through direct engagement and legislative value. There are a vast amount of policy based assets influenced and being harnessed in our strategic building of relationships and networks used toward the shift in culture and systemic discrimination. Activists from the front line need to be encouraged to continue frank and honest conversations about our connection with Ferguson and race in American and its influence within politics.
Known for our bystander intervention work and community advocacy, it’s with great pride that at the beginning of this year, on Martin Luther King’s birthday, we moved into the former Albina Arts Center in North Portland. To occupy this historical space in a now heavily gentrified area, we are excited to host our educational programming, youth events and community-based archival workshops in this space.”
