We are deeply grateful to everyone who has donated and supported us so far. Thanks to your incredible generosity, we’ve raised over $70,000 toward rebuilding Orange Valley Estates and our surrounding community in Trelawny, Jamaica.
For those new to our story, Orange Valley Estates has been a family-run horse breeding and beef cattle farm since the 1960s. For generations, the Henderson family has worked the land, raised livestock, and supported dozens of families who depend on the farm for their livelihood.
When Hurricane Melissa struck, it left behind catastrophic damage. Nearly every building on the property — including our stables, workshops, and homes — was destroyed. Only one home and the farm office managed to retain part of their roofs. The devastation extended to neighbouring communities such as Johnson Hill and Davis Pen, which rely on the farm for employment and support.
This campaign will directly fund:
Rebuilding housing for management and staff — including 5 managing directors and 27 staff members who live and work on the farm. This includes purchasing building materials, supplies, and providing on-site labor to repair or reconstruct homes based on each family’s level of loss.
Restoring farm operations, including rebuilding stables, workshops, and miles of fencing essential for safely housing animals and restarting daily operations.
Supporting nearby communities of Johnson Hill and Davis Pen through monthly food donations and household essentials from now through February 2026.
Every dollar raised goes toward rebuilding lives, restoring livelihoods, and helping our community recover together.
This effort is entirely community-driven, and all contributions will be transparently managed by myself, Alec Henderson, owner and managing director of Orange Valley Estates.
Updates and photos from each distribution will be shared along the way on our Instagram, @orangevalleyestateslimited , so donors follow along to see exactly how their support is being used.
Even if you cannot give directly, we encourage you to support other trusted relief organizations such as Food for the Poor or American Friends of Jamaica, who are assisting families across Jamaica.
Rebuilding will take time — months, even years — but with faith, hard work, and your continued support, we will rise again.
Stronger than before.
With gratitude,
Alec Henderson
