Solving Climate Displacement in Bangladesh

Donation protected
Bangladesh is one of the countries hardest hit by climate change. Every year tens of thousands of people across the country permanently lose their homes because of climate change.

Most lose everything and have nowhere else to go ending up homeless, landless or finding a small shack in an urban slum. They deserve better than this.

Our project One House, One Family at a time (OHOF) collects private funds to build new homes for the most vulnerable climate displaced families in Bangladesh.

Displacement Solutions (DS - www.displacementsolutions.org) has worked on this problem in Bangladesh for seven years with our local partner Young Power in Social Action (YPSA - www.ypsa.org).

To date, we have built nine permanent homes which we have allocated to nine (9) highly vulnerable families, providing permanent housing solutions to more than 50 people. We are now in Phase 3 of OHOF and have set a target of building eleven (11) more homes for a total cost of Eur 100,000-. Each house (including land, services, a tube well for water, fencing, etc) costs Eur 9000-.

OHOF provides a practical way for anyone, anywhere to become a concrete part of solving climate displacement, a phenomenon expected to result in hundreds of millions of people facing climate displacement in coming decades.

100% of your contribution will spent in Bangladesh to build homes for OHOF families. DS implements this project on a voluntary basis.

Thank you!
