Malawi Cyclone Recovery and Girls' Education
Tax deductible
The Othakarhaka Foundation (OTK) and I Demand Access, OTK's US affiliate, are working with communities in rural, southern Malawi that were hit hardest by record-breaking Cyclone Freddy.
The flood devastated 11 villages by sweeping away crops and livestock and destroying houses. Locals have been displaced to temporary shelters in churches, schools, and government buildings. These options provide food, clothing, and clean water. However, their support is limited.
OTK, which helps keep girls in school, deliver healthcare and palliative care, and support sustainable agriculture, is providing direct aid to families in the Mulanje District who have been most impacted by the cyclone. Funds raised will go directly to OTK to support its programs and the communities in which it serves. Please consider donating what you can to support their recovery.
About the organizers of this fundraiser: We are a group of five University of Michigan Ross MBA students who have been working with OTK on the organization's educational support programs. Our team will travel to Mulanje for the next two weeks to conduct research and provide direct aid.
