Our lives have been deeply impacted by COVID-19, particularly our city, New York City.
Homeless LGBTQ youth with their current difficulties are now left to battle these unprecedented circumstances.
With the spread of COVID-19, many service organizations are temporarily or indefinitely seizing services and the most vulnerable individuals are without resources.
OMC has responded contrary to those actions and have increased our services 10-fold. Since the warnings of COVID-19, we have conducted 7 POP-UPS in two weeks, and are on track for three more by the remainder of this week.
We have remained open to guarantee that homeless and under-resourced LGBTQ youth obtain the resources they need for survival. We offer clean, warm, quality clothing, shoes and accessories that are hand selected by offering an unparalleled dignified manner.
Our current challenge has been obtaining financial support. Most of OMC’s income was raised in the public by our outreach work at bars. Sadly, this came to a screeching halt.
Loving young professionals operate OMC and volunteer our time, there are no compensated team members and we are asking the community to support our much-needed work. Each month regardless if we continue services, our storage fees are due, which is a big consumer of our income. As most of our operations happen out of our storage units, we cannot downsize or get rid of our units because they hold imperatives for our life saving work.
