In normal times, American families experiencing food instability can visit a local pantry to help them and their families, but during this time, many people in need have a hard decision to make . People who should not leave their homes because of the risk of Corona virus will have to make an impossible decision. Do I go to the food pantry knowing that I am at high risk or do I let my family go hungry.
Northwest Compass Inc. has provided a local food pantry for people in need in the northwest suburbs of Chicago for over 30 years. Our doors are open for families who need food and assistance five days a week. During this pandemic, our brave staff continues to serve our neighbors. Even though we have modified our procedures in order to safely provide for our clients, some of our community members who need the food still can't come to our offices because of this pandemic due to the danger.
Some people and families are high risk and the act of simply leaving their house puts them and their loved ones in danger. No one should have to choose between getting food or putting themselves or their loved ones at risk, but for some people and families, that is a reality. That is why Northwest Compass Inc. started a pilot program to deliver food to the people who are most vulnerable during this pandemic. So far, Northwest Compass has delivered over 300 lbs of food to five local households for people who need the assistance.
Thurgood Marshall once said "The measure of a country's greatness is its ability to retain compassion in time of crisis." We need your compassion to expand this program in order to keep the members of the Northwest Chicago suburban community safe from Corona Virus. By donating, you are helping those in the community who need the most help during this time. Every dollar you donate gets turned into six dollars worth of food for a family. Any donation counts because we are in this together as a community and as a people.
By donating $25 you can provide a package of food for a family for month.
By donating $50 you can provide a package of food for two family for a month.
By donating $100 you can provide a package of food for four families for a month.
