NICU Tote of Hope
Donation protected
In honor of Ashlyn & Isabel’s 4 1/2 month NICU stay, our family wanted to start a project to give back to the NICU commuunity, and help ourselves heal from such an emotional experience. We decided to start making Totes of Hope, filled with items that we appreciated having during our own NICU stay. While our first donation will be about 17 totes from friends and family, we hope that we can continue to fundraise and provide these bags to the NICU to show our appreciation for all of the support and love we received.
Our idea is for these totes to be gifted on an especially tough day for a family experiencing a NICU stay. There were many days we spent anxiously awaiting x-ray/MRI results, eight surgery days, and countless scares of other possible troubles. Some of these days our friends, family, and even acquaintances dropped off thoughtful gifts that lifted our spirits. Our hope is that these totes will do the same. In each tote there is a card letting the family know who the tote is from, or who it is gifted in honor of. We also have a Facebook page where they can post or connect with whoever gifted their bag. As these families leave the NICU maybe they will then sponsor a tote in the future for another family and the circle of kindness will continue.
Each tote of hope costs around $25 to create. For each $25 donated you may sponsor a tote, or gift a tote in honor of someone. Your name, or the person's name you are choosing to honor, will go on a card with encouragement for the family. Then you can join the Facebook page and hopefully you will know when your bag is received.
Our current goal is to raise $400, which is enough to make twenty Totes of Hope.
"Kindness in words creates confidence, Kindness in thinking creates profoundness, Kindness in giving creates love."
